This game is a masterpiece. I find myself listening to “my” father’s last recording to me before he leaves the vault for another time… and when I put myself in my character’s shoes, it’s just so heartbreaking. I can see her listening to this final recording of her father over and over again… hoping it’s not the last time she hears his voice. She ventures out into this whole world she’s never seen or really heard of, to find the only true family she has left. I like to think this recording is what keeps her going, what gives her courage every single time an enemy threatens to gun her down. Strength courses through her as she thinks of her father, and how she knows he’s still alive out there somewhere. She listens to the recording one more time, her lips whispering his final words:
“Goodbye, I love you.”
Breaks my heart.
